GO NUTS FOR MYLK!

Nuts for non-dairy milk? Lucky for us, there are more and more options at the grocery store for living the dairy-free life. Whether you’re strictly dairy-free or just want to try something new to reduce your consumption of dairy, your life will never be the same once you try these nut milk recipes. (Tip: If you’re short on time, try the cashew milk first. It’s the easiest one!)

Cashew Milk
Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw cashews

  • 5 cups filtered water

  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Optional: 1 inch of fresh vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Soak cashews in filtered water overnight or for at least 8 hours.

  2. After soaking, thoroughly rinse cashews until the water runs clear.

  3. Transfer cashews to a high speed blender  

  4. Add 4 cups of filtered water, coconut oil, low-glycemic sweetener, and sea salt.

  5. Blend for 1-2 minutes.

  6. Pour into a clean and sealable container.  Keep refrigerated.

  7. Enjoy!

Almond Milk
Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds

  • 5 cups filtered water

  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • Optional: 1 inch of fresh vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Soak almonds in filtered water overnight or for at least 8 hours.

  3. Transfer almonds to a high speed blender  

  4. Add 4 cups of filtered water, coconut oil, healthy sweetener, and sea salt.

  5. Blend for 1-2 minutes.

  6. Sift almond milk mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth to remove most of the almond pulp.

  7. Pour into a clean and sealable container.  Keep refrigerated.

  8. Enjoy!

   TIP: Save the almond pulp, as it can be dehydrated (in your oven) and used as flour for  other recipes.


Walnut Milk
Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups raw walnuts

  • 5 cups filtered water

  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil

  • 1 Tablespoon raw honey or maple syrup

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Optional: 1 inch of fresh vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Soak walnuts in filtered water overnight or for at least 8 hours.

  2. After soaking, thoroughly rinse walnuts until the water runs clear.

  3. Transfer walnuts to a high speed blender  

  4. Add 4 cups of filtered water and the rest of the ingredients.

  5. Blend for 1 minute

  6. Sift walnut milk mixture through a nut milk bag or cheesecloth to remove most of the pulp.

  7. Pour into a clean and sealable container.  Keep refrigerated.

  8. Enjoy!
